EPIC DH Club Champs - Cloon 23 Janurary

Hi Guys,
We have been getting a lot of questions about the club champs this weekend so we thought we would send out a mail with some additional information.
Firstly there are two things happening over the weekend.  Firstly we are having a dig day in Cloon on the Saturday, then we are having the Club Champs on the Sunday.
In terms of the dig day, we are looking for a good turnout so we can open up some sections of track.  We plan to have a Tuesday night race league there over the summer, and to do so we need a number of track options.  Good tracks don’t dig themselves so we need the support of you guys to help make sure it happens. Those of you who have been around a while will know that there have been a number of tracks in Cloon over the years that have fallen into disuse and have been buried under brash during tree felling. The plan is to resurrect some of these sections, if we get through what we plan to we should have almost a completely new track in the place, and the option to mix and match different top and bottom sections.
We will be up there for 10:00.  The work will involve mostly clearing brash trimming branches and maybe a small about of shovel work.  So the tools of choice would be, good work / gardening gloves, rakes and loppers.  There is no harm having the odd shovel or mattock but as I said we won’t be doing that much digging, more raking and clearing.  Also if you are new to the whole track building thing, its thirsty work, so bring food and water.
In terms of the champs the plan is as follows:
The format for the day is sign on will be main car park between 9 & 11 no later, practice all morning up until 11.30, Everyone to the top for 12.00 as first rider off at 12.00 on the button, Don’t be late as it will mess the timing up. Second runs start times will be decided on the day depending on numbers. We won’t be announcing which track it is until the morning.  If people want to turn up and practice on Saturday they had better bring a shovel with them and put in some digging time, sneaky practice while everyone else is digging won’t go down well.
There is no entry fee, but in terms of who can enter, to win a prise, glory etc, you obviously you have to be a member of epic.  You can hand over membership forms etc on Saturday or Sunday. You should have also at least started the licence application process through Cycling Ireland. If you are a newbie who hasn’t been out with us before and is still a bit unsure about what they want to do, then you can certainly turn up and compete but you won’t be in line for prises unless you are a signed up member.
The categories are going to be Juniors (Under 16), Seniors (16 to 35), Ladies, Vets (Now it’s 35+, Bring I.D….).
